Venison Chili

My Great Tasting Homemade Chili - Made With Venison

Fallow this recipe; and make your family or hunting camp some great tasting homemade venison chili.  It is also a great way to use up your venison when family or deer hunting buddies get tired of eating those venison steaks from your trophy deer.  Chili made with venison can also be stored in your Food Savor bags and frozen for use later on.  I get many complements on my chili. Most of the time people don't even know there is venison meat in my chili.  Those who know me may suspect that I have put ground venison is in my chili; but if I don't tell them, they haven't a clue.

Ingredients For My Homemade Chili - Made With Venison

1 pound ground venison burger

1 pound (favorite) breakfast pork sausage

1 large onion chopped or diced

2 tablespoons virgin olive oil

1/2 green pepper chopped or diced

1 teaspoon course ground pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon basil

1/2 teaspoon celery seed

1/2 teaspoon minced garlic

2 - 15 oz. cans dark kidney beans - drained

1 - 28oz. can "Bush's" baked beans

3 - 15 oz. cans tomato sauce

1 - 15 oz. can diced tomatoes (Italian style)

1/2 cup salsa (you pick how hot)

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon liquid smoke

2 tablespoons (or more to taste) chili powder

Variations To Recipe

1 pound venison steak - cubed (1/2 inch) - instead of ground venison

1 pound cooked boneless chicken breast - shredded or cubed (1/2 inch) instead of pork sausage

Add red peppers, and or jalapeno peppers to taste (go slow here).

Add 1/3 cup of your favorite barbeque sauce

Preparation

Mix together thoroughly ground venison and pork sausage.

Frying ground venison, sausage, and onions

Fry in skillet with onions and 2 tablespoons virgin olive oil.  In a large saucepan combine all ingredients.  Heat at medium to high heat, stirring often, until chili comes to slow boil.  Reduce heat to low.  Cover and simmer; stirring often (you don't want to scorch or burn any ingredients that settle to the bottom of the sauce pan) for 20 minutes.

Serve Your Chili Made With Venison

Serve in a large soup bowl; topped with your favorite shredded cheese mixture, and a side of tortilla dipping chips, along with your favorite chilled adult beverage.  Yum!  Yum!
