Safe hunting equipment may save your life one day. Don't take your hunting safety for granted. All it takes is one moment of carelessness, and you could be crippled for life. Or worse yet, you could die. Imagine, falling out of a tree stand while hunting alone. Maybe you break your back, a leg, or become unconscious and suffer from short term memory loss. Who knows what may happen. The point is - don't take your hunting safety for granted.
Always let someone know where your going to hunt and when they should expect you back. You need to know and understand the hunting areas you are hunting in. Familiarize yourself with entrance and exit trails, boundary roads, prevailing wind direction, the hunting area sounds (is there a farmer running milking equipment or doing other farming activities), the suns path across the sky, towers, landmarks, hills, rivers, lakes, swamps, etc. Know your hunting area and where your at.
If your hunting with a rifle; know it's range. What type of ammunition are you hunting with? Is the bullet designed for bush penetration or will it deflect much easier. How about your archery equipment? Are the broadheads secure in the quiver. Where is your hunting knife? Is it secure? These are just a few things to think about for safe hunting.
1. First aid kit.
2. A loud whistle
3. Cell phone or walkie talkie that works in the hunting area your in.
4. Marker tape; if you get lost you may need to back track.
5. A reflective foil shelter blanket.
6. Rope
7. Knife and saw
8. Water; 2 quarts minimum. this also comes in handy after removing the entrails of that trophy deer you shoot.
9. Food and energy bars. Something that may have to sustain you for a day or two.
10. Iodine tablets or a water purification straw.
11. Toilet paper; enough said.
12. A signal mirror.
13. A couple gallon plastic freezer bags.
14. A leather man style tool or Swiss army knife.
15. A positive, calm, survival attitude. If you have these few items, there is no need for panic. All these items should be able to fit in your day pack. Don't take your deer hunting safety for granted. Your loved ones are and will be depending on you into the future.

Pack these items and more. Be prepared for any situation. Good luck hunting.
