Deer hunting methods are a matter of your hunting preference. Some hunters use only one or two hunting methods. Others start a hunting season with one hunting method and then switch to other various hunting methods for trophy deer as the season progresses. There are a few basic trophy deer hunting methods and there are variations of those.
The hunting method of deer hunting from a stand is very popular because a hunter is above the line of sight of a deer. By using this deer hunting method, a deer hunter's scent will be more dispersed the higher a hunter is positioned off the ground. In most cases a hunter will be more camouflaged with this method of hunting deer because the tree limbs, branches, and leaves will break up a hunters silhouette against the sky. Most guided deer hunts are from elevated hunting stands. There are various types of deer hunting stands available to a trophy deer hunter; portable hunting stands, climbing hunting stands, ladder stands, self-made stands, and tripods for the stand hunting method.
Deer hunters who the choose hunting methods of hunting off the ground, at any hieght, need to think about their safety and the possibility of falls. Each year many deer hunters are injured from falls, and some even crippled for life, using the hunting method of being high off the ground in a stand or even perched on a tree limb. A deer hunter should always use a hunter safety harness when climbing up or down a tree and when hunting from any type of elevated stand.
Another trophy deer hunting method is hunting from ground blinds. These can take on many different forms. We have natural blinds; like deadfalls and brush. Hay bails in open farm country can make excellent cover for a hunter who chooses this hunting method for whitetail deer.

There are also many manufactures of pop-up blinds. Using this method of hunting deer has become very popular, especially when archery hunting, because they are light-weight, offer some protection from the elements, they are easily transportable, easily erected, camouflaged, and some even offer scent control.
From the ground, still hunting methods are popular when you don't have a blind or stand to hunt from. A trophy deer hunter must always be aware of cover and camouflage while still hunting. With these hunting methods a hunter finds a promising spot, preferably by a game trail or feeding area with a tree, large rock or other cover, and waits for the game to come within shooting range. A deer hunter must always be aware of the wind direction, and be facing the wind with this hunting method for deer. A modified technique of the still hunting method would be when the hunter moves slowly through a trophy deer hunting area, keeping the wind in their face or side, searching for deer before they themselves are spotted by the deer. In this hunting method the hunter moves slow and quiet, covering very little ground, with the wind in their face and the sun at there back. A whitetail deer hunter who can keep a sharp eye out for any part of a deer; may find this hunting method very productive, especially when rifle hunting; because now you have a firearm that will reach out to the deer.
The other method of trophy deer hunting would be what's called deer drives and variations of this hunting methods. In this hunting method two or more hunter's try to move, or push deer into other hunter's who have been pre-positioned, or on stand for this great technique. It work's well when a deer has to move through a specific funnel area where a hunter or hunter's are in waiting. Sometimes the hunter's trying to drive, or push the deer make noise to spook the deer into moving towards the deer hunter's on stand in waiting. With this hunting method, the making of noise also to lets the hunter's on stand know where they are for safety. The hunter's doing the driving should all be wearing bright blaze orange clothing and hats for visual aids. Deer hunter's need to read and fallow all hunting regulations for the area they are hunting, and understand fully the deer hunting method they have chosen.
